Miami Beach Holidays
Miami Beach, Florida
Art Deco and Holidays converge on Trendy South Beach!
Design Inspirations
Miami Beach has long conjured images of pristine beaches, Art-deco architecture, vibrant nightlife and tropical living.
It seemed fitting to use these very images to create the style and flavor for Miami Beach's holiday décor. A unique, vibrant, citywide celebration!
In researching historical and design elements of the city, we found many beautiful vintage travel posters and images that helped shape the world's view of Miami Beach. One vintage postcard in particular stood out from all the rest. It depicted a woman on a beach for the holidays. The umbrella overhead formed a traditional Christmas tree, nearby is a flamingo and a pile of wrapped packages. The dream of a holiday in the tropics… Elements from this vintage postcard and Miami Beach's art-deco architecture have become the primary themes used to create the 2005 holiday celebration.
City Entrances
Using I-95 as the main entrance and focal point of the holiday celebration, we created a spectacular display welcoming all to Miami Beach. This impressive display features all of the key elements found throughout the citywide program, including giant glittered packages, sparkling ribbons, golden stars and art-deco architectural motifs.

The design for the architectural brackets were inspired by the art-deco hotels of Miami Beach. One hotel on Ocean Drive features a graceful decorative scroll frieze. This element was isolated and translated into a whimsical light sculpture adding a festive flair to the existing monument. A giant glittered golden bow and colorful presents surround the sign adding impact and excitement.
Each of the neon clad palms in back of the monument are wrapped with miniature lights and feature glittered golden stars.
71st Street Entrance
At the 71st Street entrance to the city, we have continued the theme adding packages, ribbons and stars to the existing Miami Beach monument. Each of the units contains glittered mesh for color and sparkle by both day and night. A smaller architectural bracket was designed and inspired by yet another hotel on Miami Beach's Ocean Drive. The palms have been wrapped in miniature lights and feature glittered golden stars expanding and enhancing the overall display.

Street Decorations
In developing the new designs for the street décor, we continued with our established themes creating a coordinated identity for the entire city of Miami Beach. The pole and lamp post decorations feature glittered mesh inserts for color and daytime visibility.
The larger pole decorations all feature the elements of stars and scrolls, each with a different twist. The decorations were alternated on the poles adding interest instead of repetition.

The lamp post units, though smaller in size were doubled on each pole adding impact and glamour to the lower level lamp posts along Ocean Drive's beach park.
Cross Street Décor and Banners
The challenge of Arthur Godfrey Blvd's cross street décor was in the lack of power to the poles on the street. In order to add visual excitement to this area, it would have to be done with no lights at all.
We designed a spectacular giant cross street display, all lined with solar disks that act like mirrors reflecting the sunlight and adding sparkle and flash. At night, the solar disks pick up the ambient street lighting.
On the lower level poles along the corridor, we designed banners based on a vintage postcard and topped each pone with a glittered star outlined with solar disks.
